    To: Driver Education Students and parents/Guardians Tri-County would like to say thank you to the University of Minnesota Raptor Center for providing this opportunity to our students. For some students, the highlight was watching the owl eat a mouse whole, while for others it was seeing the regal presence of one of America’s symbols up close. Each bird was presented one by one, giving all of our students a unique chance to view the raptors up close on the presenter’s glove. They also work to foster an appreciation for wildlife and the environment through their educational programs featuring ambassador birds that are unable to be released.Īll Tri-County students had the opportunity to learn about what the Raptor Center does, the natural history of the birds, how humans can help with conservation efforts for raptors, and unique information about the four species of birds presented. The Raptor Center is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and releases about 1,000 wild eagles, hawks, and owls each year.

    All the raptors were brought to Tri-County from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center through a grant that allows them to offer free programs to schools. Along with their presenter, Max Borge, were a Red-Tail Hawk, an American Kestrel, a Great-Horned Owl, and a Bald Eagle. On Friday, March 3, the Tri-County School district was honored with the presence of some very special visitors.
